If you feel you have experienced discrimination at work - for instance due to your pregnancy or your age - then you are welcome to call me for free confidential advice.
Employees and most persons who are self-employed are protected from mistreatment becauase of age, maternity, pregnancy, gender and other factors. Mistreatment includes harassment and can include dismissal. It is also unlawful to victimise someone because - for instance - they have complained or raised concerns about discrimination. Nor does the person have to use the word 'discrimination' to be protected.
Many people also experience what is called 'indirect' discrimination which most commonly happens when employers unreasonably refuse requests for flexible working by returning mums.
Unfortunately, discrimination is still very common - especially around pregnancy and maternity and also in regard to age (young and old).
Sexual harassment is still very common, as is homophobia and mistreatment related to menal health.
I have many years experience advising and representing individuals who have experienced such treatment.
